Being a Seattle Hip-Hop DJ, I rarely get a chance to spin vinyl outdoors so working the Seattle Pride crowd on the corner of Pike and 11th is always a treat. There is so much time, preparation and hard work that goes into making a block party possible, so I want to first give props to Shelley and Martha for making it happen. Go Martha! Go Shelley! Go, Go!
Right before the show, it began to drizzle and became windy! I tryied not to think to much of it at first but then the wind started to blow harder, I started to shiver a little, then, I was nervous. I thought that because of rain that the crowd might start to thin out and I wouldn't have much of an audience. The girls where cold to and thinking the same thing.
But we still managed to keep out spirits up and tried to keep each other warm. We danced and enjoyed the break beat set by Colby B while we waited to perform. I must say that Mila Amor, Sophie SoFresh and myself all looked stunning in our army gear.
Counting down the minutes to show time was a little nerve wrecking too but when the time came, all of that energy became channeled in the right direction. I couldn’t think of anything else but that finally we get to perform! The stage was set up so perfectly, including lighting, thanks to my Bo!
Before I even did anything I heard supportive yells and cheers from friends in the crowd. Standing there in my army kaki, I first played a helicopter sample as an intro then "Soldier" by Destiny's Child. (The sound was perfect, thanks to Kirsten.) I saw my friends in the crowd with huge smiles, tons of strangers with their hands up in the air, woman's breast flashing, even the haters were happy to see me! And "the girlz", my girls, Mila Amor and Sophie SoFresh were on point, looking so flawless as they creeped up the stage in their camo gear. They presented themselves, each other and me with such beauty and grace.

The crowd’s reaction was full of Loving attention that was so satisfying to all our hard work and dedication. As the crowd thickened during the first song I introduced myself and "the Girlz", and thanked everyone for their soothing energy. Though out the show there were several annonymous photographers taking our pictures from many different angles. I was also happy to see so many people move toward the stage to enjoy the music.

My set was 2 and a half hours and included tracks like; "Just a Lil'Bit" by 50-Cent, "Only You" by Ashanti, "1 Thing", by Amerie, "Wait" by the Ying Yang Twins, "1,2 Step" by Ciara, "Signs" by Snoop just to name a few.
During the show it began to rain. I looked around and noticed that my audience was soaked and still dancing! It was a beautiful site! I love watching people groove with each other not paying any mind to their surroundings. Towards the end of the show I had already spotted the best dancers in the crowd. You know the ones that are so far into their groove, knowing that they look good with the way they move thier bodies. I thanked everyone for coming and sharing their cool vibes.
