Summertime 2005
Summertime 2005 is the title of my latest demo. It's an hour long, the BPM range from 98 to about 130, and inclueds 25 hip hop tracks. I love my intro and the track selections all through out. Working on my demo was a huge learning experience as it always is. My biggest issue was trial and error. In the past I've had my own standard way about mixing my music. I like to layer my hip hop like one would mix breaks. Which usually confuses an audience and creats anticipation. But for Summertime 2005 I mixed it up a bit and focused on dropping as many tracks as possible. Which I only got so far with because with a few of the track I felt that they were to good not to be played in thier intierty.
The first song "Gasoline" by E-40 has the hotest intro but an ever better outro, which I mixed so perfectly with "Just a Lil'Bit" by 50-Cent. The next eight songs I quickly dropped after the second chorus. Then again worked the the intro and outros, dropped a few more, then again worked the beats as the came.
Like "Light Your Ass on Fire" by Busta has some bomb ass robot samples at the end which mix so tough with Gwen Stephanie's intro to "Holla Back Girl". Right when Stephanie is saying "Shit" in her lyrics "I heard that you where talkin shit", "Light Your Ass on Fire" says "Shake It". I let the two tracks play over each other for some time which compliment each other beautifully.
The last few tracks were pretty fast, Escape from the 80's came back with a hot single "What Up?" and Missy has been speeding up her beats lately as well. I mixed both together to seem like the same song, to create the perfect ending to my demo Summertime 2005.
