The Illmatic rhyme-sayer and recent Def Jam signee tells a packed house at The Roots' Radio City Music Hall show that new album is on the way.

Nas, who recently squashed his long-standing beef with Jay-Z by signing to Jay-Z's Def Jam label, told a packed house last night at NYC's Radio City Music Hall that he will release his first Def Jam album in September.

The Queensbridge rapper made the announcement last night on stage as part of labelmates The Roots' two-night, star-studded show , capping off his 15-minute set by saying, "I'm working hard for y'all. I got an album coming out in September."

A Def Jam spokesperson told Billboard that the album is titled Hip-Hop Is Dead, and it will hit stores in September. The album will be jointly promoted by Def Jam and Nas' former label, Columbia Records, under a revenue-sharing agreement."
