LJDJ's Favorite Artist of the Week

Missy Elliot is this Seattle Hip Hop DJ's favorite artist of the Week. The style of Missy's flow have always kept me moving like a part of the music. She has never let me down with her beats, lyrics and choice of featured artist on her tracks. Missy always delivers uniqe videos and the toughest dance floor hits.

My favorites of Missy Elliot's tracks include; Lose Control, Wake Up, I'm Really Really Hot, Pass That Dutch and The Rain. I especially like that she featured Ciara in Lose Control and Jay-Z in Wake Up.

Missy Elliott's reality show "Get On The Bus" was the coolest show on television last Winter. A group of talented young aspiring hip hop artists traveled cross country on Missy's show. They competed with each other daily, occasionally at a selected venue, by displaying a selected hip hop talent to the best of thier abilities. As the number of perticapants rapidly thined the performances became more intense but the rewards were abundant.

Missy is not only talented in many respects but cute too! I contunue to look forward to her up and coming music, videos and any events she decides to be a part of. I Lady Jane DJ find that Missy Elliott is here to stay and will continue to display the best in hip hop to come.

Fun at Summer Jam 2005

Summer Jam 2005 was superb! Lady Jane DJ with her girls Sophia, Marisol and Estella had a great time. I was in the third row by the time Mike Jones was on stage. Summer Jam is a general admission event so you have to earn your way up to the front row and stay there until the end if you want to keep it. In between each performer a Cube 93 DJ spun and scratched to his favorite tracks.

First up was Brooke Valentine with her sexy dancers. Her beats were fresh and her stage presence was hot! Brooke's part of the show was choreographed to the T. However when she performed "Girl Fight" her Dancers looked extra hot with their girl fight moves!

Next up was Jon B. His voice is so beautiful and He's also extremely talented with his keyboard. Jon B had two gorgeous male guitarists behind him.

Then Mike Jones came out with his posse and hyped the party tough! Cause he's MIKE JONES! During his part of the show we all finally got to the front and center of the crowd. It was great to see Mike Jones so up close. Next up was Pretty Ricky. Great group of guys! Bone Thugs N Harmony are holding it down tough!

Then New Edition came out dressed to impress looking so tight in their off white! New Editon's part of the show was all choreographed with the smoothest moves. They had that smooth gentleman style that proves that they really don't make gentlemen like they used to.

Ciara was hot! She had two energetic girl back up dancers, two gorgeous dancer guys and her DJ. Ciara's DJ was first up, he pumped up the crowd for a while then introduced Ciara. Then when Ciara came out this Seattle Hip Hop DJ was so extatic to see her! My favorite of the songs she performed was "Pick Up the Phone". Ciara has an excelent voice and her dance moves are sexy!

Finally Nas and his DJ got to perform and as always Nas tore up the stage! Nas can work the crowd with such ease and grace. I Love watching him on stage. I Lady Jane DJ had a great time at Summer Jam 2005.

The Anger Management Tour 3

The Anger Management Tour 3 yesterday was one of the best treats for this summer. I'm so happy that this Seattle Hip Hop DJ decided to attend. I had a great time with my friends Marisol and Sophia. Some of the artist that we got to see were; Eminem, 50 Cent, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz, D-12, G-Unit, Obie Trice and Stat Quo.

When we first got there we finished our Crunk Juice on the way into the concert. We also all recieved a free XXL Special Edition with pictures and articles of all the Anger Management Tour 3 Artist before entering the gates! I was also very pleased with the complimetary "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" poster with 50 Cent's tatooed back on it.

When we entered the the concert grounds we heard Lil Jon playing in the back ground and it turned out that he was actually already performing. This concert was actually on time, so we ran to our seats and there they were Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boys. The stage had three cat walks and a giant Lil' Jon face in the back ground. Lil Jon's giant face was complete with bouncing dred locks, gold teeth and two arms attached that pointed when ever Lil' Jon said "Too the window, to the wall". It was so dope!

I was seated in section 206 which is the second set of stadium type seating in the White River Amphitheatre. During Lil Jon's show he ran up into my section, climmed up onto a box to elivate him to the audience's height. And so all nice and sweety, four rows away from me, Lil' Jon sang "Lovers and Friends" for everyone as we all sang along. Lil' Jon, the Eastside Boys and Pit Bull really know how to work a crowd.

Next 50 Cent, G-Unit, Olivia and Mobb Deep performed and their stage set up had a New York theme. The back ground was set with the Brooklyn Bridge, a pop out of the Statue of Liberty's face, garbage cans set across the stage, and video footage on four screens. 50 Cent performed all my favorites of his music and more. I beleive I did dance the hardest during his part of the show.

Last but not least was Eminem, D-12, Obie Trice and Stat Quo. Eminem began his part of the show with a suicide skit. His songs generally started with a skit of some sort, like retiring and coming back as "rain man", attempting to commit suicide with a play gun that reads BANG followed by "Just Loose It".

I Lady Jane DJ had the best time at The Anger Management Tour 3. All the Gentlemen and Women of the Anger Management Tour 3 really know how to throw down a tough concert! This Seattle Hip Hop DJ will be anxiously awaiting for the Anger Management Tour 4.

Screw Abstinence

The party at Watertown yesterday kicked off strong! 250 safe sex supporters through the door by 6:45pm! The young and the older all came together to support safer sex. I saw some friends that I had not seen in a while and plenty of people that I have never seen before.

Lady Jane DJ spun hip hop beats over looking the Watertown dance floor. The comedy performance by “Sex in Seattle & Pork Filled Players” was hilarious and the “Sexy Safer Sex” tips by two positive purveyors of Toys in Babeland was delightfully intertaining, but most importantly both performances were very safe sex informative.

Thanks to Sasha for organizing the "Screw Abstinence Party". She is a great producer and a great gal! I feel that spinning at an event that brings great energy and laughs for a good cause is always a plus!

Later that night, I picked up The G-Force, MilaAmor, SophieSoFresh and headed down to Club Element for Tandelizing Thursday Hip Hop Night. DJ Foolchild has an extensive collection of oldskool hip hop that had us busting out our oldskool moves all night long!

Lady Jane DJ's Favorite Artist of the Week

Jermeine Dupri, one of the most respected producers in music has me eyeing his latest video, "Gotta Getcha", featuring Janet Jackson. This video is so awesome. The scene with Janet Jackson in Gotta Getcha puts a smile on my face every time I watch it. I love it because it's so sexy! And seeing Janet in this video makes it even sexier. Mr. Dupri and Janet look great together, he is a very lucky man

...don't forget "The Screw Abstinence Party" tonight at Watertown from 6pm to 8pm...

Club Element Reveiw

Last night I went to visit Club Element for their Hip Hop Tandalizing Thursdays and had a fanatastic time. When I first got there I was amazed at how beautiful and cozy the place was.

As I walked through Club Element I noticed cozy spots at every corner for groups of friends to chill. My favorite chill spot was the room with the Asian feel to it. I also enjoyed the lighting at every square foot of the main dance floor, that lit up in different colors. There was also a projector screen showing video clips with Japanese sub titles above the DJ booth which feature DJ Foolchild. And the bar was well stocked, very important.

I introduced myself to one of the bouncers, Juan and asked him to show me around the rest of the club. Juan was so sweet. Juan took me to the next room and the dance floor also had some cool lighting but up against the wall this time. Which I'm sure work well for shadow dancing! :) This time the DJ booth was one floor up above the dance floor.

So we went up one floor to "Heaven" and my eyes just lit up. Every thing was white, very nice. There was a catwalk to trace the dance floor down below and the DJ booth was set up right behind the catwalk.

There were yet two other rooms under construction and seemed to be coming along
beautifully. This is a very good reason for me to bring "The G-Force" by next Thursday.

After my guided tour by sweet Juan, I met Mel, her sister and wonderful friends. We sipped the best raspberry vodka drinks I've ever had, being because they were muddled with real raspberries. It was so delicious! We also danced to "DJ Foolchild's" track selections for the night. He spun everything from oldskool hip hop to current hip hop tracks for us. DJ Foolchild is definetly a very talented man.

Club Element gets this Seattle Hip Hop DJ's two thumbs up. Last night at Club Element was superb. With my muddled raspberry vodka drink and great new friends, I was definetly in Heaven and will return.

LJDJ's Favorite Hip Hop Artist of the Week

One of my current favorite artists is Amerie. Amerie really does have it all beauty, talent, her voice is breathtaking, and I personally love and respect the fact that she is from a military family. My favorite of her songs are "Talkin' About", "1 Thing", "All I Need", and "Come With Me".

When I first heard Amerie's new single "1 Thing" I immediately turned up the volume and groovin to the beat. This reminded me a bit of "Talkin' About". Both of these songs have beats that will have your body's rhythm going in twisted directions.

Her voice is like another instrument in her songs. Amerie is definitely in the first stages of her career. I am excited to see her grow.

Summertime 2005

Summertime 2005 is the title of my latest demo. It's an hour long, the BPM range from 98 to about 130, and inclueds 25 hip hop tracks. I love my intro and the track selections all through out. Working on my demo was a huge learning experience as it always is. My biggest issue was trial and error. In the past I've had my own standard way about mixing my music. I like to layer my hip hop like one would mix breaks. Which usually confuses an audience and creats anticipation. But for Summertime 2005 I mixed it up a bit and focused on dropping as many tracks as possible. Which I only got so far with because with a few of the track I felt that they were to good not to be played in thier intierty.

The first song "Gasoline" by E-40 has the hotest intro but an ever better outro, which I mixed so perfectly with "Just a Lil'Bit" by 50-Cent. The next eight songs I quickly dropped after the second chorus. Then again worked the the intro and outros, dropped a few more, then again worked the beats as the came.

Like "Light Your Ass on Fire" by Busta has some bomb ass robot samples at the end which mix so tough with Gwen Stephanie's intro to "Holla Back Girl". Right when Stephanie is saying "Shit" in her lyrics "I heard that you where talkin shit", "Light Your Ass on Fire" says "Shake It". I let the two tracks play over each other for some time which compliment each other beautifully.

The last few tracks were pretty fast, Escape from the 80's came back with a hot single "What Up?" and Missy has been speeding up her beats lately as well. I mixed both together to seem like the same song, to create the perfect ending to my demo Summertime 2005.

Pride 2005 Review - Rockin Show!

Being a Seattle Hip-Hop DJ, I rarely get a chance to spin vinyl outdoors so working the Seattle Pride crowd on the corner of Pike and 11th is always a treat. There is so much time, preparation and hard work that goes into making a block party possible, so I want to first give props to Shelley and Martha for making it happen. Go Martha! Go Shelley! Go, Go!

Right before the show, it began to drizzle and became windy! I tryied not to think to much of it at first but then the wind started to blow harder, I started to shiver a little, then, I was nervous. I thought that because of rain that the crowd might start to thin out and I wouldn't have much of an audience. The girls where cold to and thinking the same thing.

But we still managed to keep out spirits up and tried to keep each other warm. We danced and enjoyed the break beat set by Colby B while we waited to perform. I must say that Mila Amor, Sophie SoFresh and myself all looked stunning in our army gear.

Counting down the minutes to show time was a little nerve wrecking too but when the time came, all of that energy became channeled in the right direction. I couldn’t think of anything else but that finally we get to perform! The stage was set up so perfectly, including lighting, thanks to my Bo!

Before I even did anything I heard supportive yells and cheers from friends in the crowd. Standing there in my army kaki, I first played a helicopter sample as an intro then "Soldier" by Destiny's Child. (The sound was perfect, thanks to Kirsten.) I saw my friends in the crowd with huge smiles, tons of strangers with their hands up in the air, woman's breast flashing, even the haters were happy to see me! And "the girlz", my girls, Mila Amor and Sophie SoFresh were on point, looking so flawless as they creeped up the stage in their camo gear. They presented themselves, each other and me with such beauty and grace.

The crowd’s reaction was full of Loving attention that was so satisfying to all our hard work and dedication. As the crowd thickened during the first song I introduced myself and "the Girlz", and thanked everyone for their soothing energy. Though out the show there were several annonymous photographers taking our pictures from many different angles. I was also happy to see so many people move toward the stage to enjoy the music.

My set was 2 and a half hours and included tracks like; "Just a Lil'Bit" by 50-Cent, "Only You" by Ashanti, "1 Thing", by Amerie, "Wait" by the Ying Yang Twins, "1,2 Step" by Ciara, "Signs" by Snoop just to name a few.

During the show it began to rain. I looked around and noticed that my audience was soaked and still dancing! It was a beautiful site! I love watching people groove with each other not paying any mind to their surroundings. Towards the end of the show I had already spotted the best dancers in the crowd. You know the ones that are so far into their groove, knowing that they look good with the way they move thier bodies. I thanked everyone for coming and sharing their cool vibes.
